  1. Prepare 1 1/4 Cup Gram Flour/Besan
  2. Take 1/4 cup Rice Flour
  3. Take 1 tbsp Red chilli powder
  4. Prepare 1 tsp Asafoetida
  5. Get 50 gms Raw Peanuts
  6. Take 50 gms Roasted Gram
  7. Prepare 1/4 cup Poha
  8. Take 1/4 cup Cornflakes Readymade
  9. Make ready 8-10 Cashews
  10. Get 2 tsp curry leaves
  11. Prepare to taste Salt
  12. Prepare 1 pinch baking soda
  13. Get As needed Oil for frying

That's because, my dad used to buy this always. My mom hates this snack just because it has been always bought by my dad. This spicy mixture of peanuts, lentils, rice flour and lentil crisps simply called Mixture is a popular South Indian snack. Diwali is one of those festivals where the emphasis is so much on the sweet and savory snacks that are made and not so much on the food otherwise, like lunch or dinner.

Steps to make South indian spicy mixture:
  1. Heat a wok with enough oil for deep fry.
  2. In a bowl add 1 cup of Gram flour, 1/4 cup of rice flour, 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder, A generous pinch asafoetida, a pinch of Turmeric, Salt and mix well. Sprinkle water and a tbsp of hot oil. Form a smooth dough. Now fill the dough in a Sev maker. Use small hole mould. Close the lid and press and drop in hot oil. Fry for few minutes and take it out on a tissue paper. Like this complete the batter.
  3. In the same bowl add rest of Gram Flour, red chilli powder, asafoetida, salt, a pinch of baking soda and mix well. Add water and make a lump free pouring batter. Not too loose nor too thick. Now take a ladle with holes to make boondi. Spread the batter on ladle and spread it si that it falls through the holes to oil like droplets. Fry for few minutes until crisp. Take it out and transfer to a tissue paper.
  4. Now in the same oil deep fry the Raw peanuts for few minutes and take out. Deep Fry the roasted gram and take it out. Deep fry cashews, poha, curry leaves one by one separately and take out.
  5. Now take bowl and add the sev first and break it into small pieces. Add all the other fried items, red chilli powder, salt and asafoetida and give it a good mix. You can also add cornflakes if you like. Mix everything well.
  6. Store in a air tight container. It will stay for many days, so make in bulk if you want. Supee simple recipe is ready. 👩‍🍳
